Update -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Monday, August 11 2008 |
It has been a while since the last update so here we go:
Starting with 16v16 this time. After our big loss to aK^ we fronted up again for our 2nd nGR game, this time against exile5. It was on wake which I call a luck map, it can go either way irrespective of who you are playing as much of it relies on luck. You either lose big or win big on this one. We lost by a moderate score, 145 is actually good against the team we played and on that map so we are happy with that.
Our next nGR game was against rapid fire. We recently defeated them in 10v10 to secure the tier 3 finals (more on that below) and so they were keen for revenge. The map was 16v16 nightflight and we secured a win after a shaky first round by putting up what the casters called a 'great wall of china' defense of the 3 main flags on the map. It was a great game, the first 16v16 special forces game we have ever played and so the win was extra special.
*AUS*:HwT in the 16v16 ladder started a week ago for season 6, we accepted a challenge from the Outlaws clan for Mashtuur city and loaded in on game night to secure the biggest winning margin we have every attained, 361 to 0 - paying off the debt we incurred in our first 16v16 game when we lost by 319 to the Bush Rangers clan. Since the OL game we challenged up for a game on wedesday night, we challenge the RAAF clan for first spot on the ladder on Karkand, RAAF are very good on this map, played something like 10 games and lost only once, but that loss was to us and so this game should be a good one!
We have enjoyed a lot of success in our smaller format games as well. Since the last update LiD (or GA 10v10 team) has been on freeplay mode after the last season. We defeated rapid Fire in this comp too (actually this win came before the 16v16 win against them) in the teir 3 finals for the 10v10 ladder. It shows how far this team has come, it wasnt long ago that rF would easily slap us around. Anyway the new season up again and we have played one game since, this was against Predatorz. we defeated them by 110 - 0 on KarkandFU which was a mappack map that everyone has been looking forward to playing. LiD, like our 16v16 team, has challenged up on the ladder to first position for a game going down next week - wish us luck.
Our GameSpace 10v10 team has also enjoyed much success, winning a bunch of games by significant margins. This is our new development team, a place for new guys to get a game with Steric running it and so far it has been working well for all involved.
Our 2142 team has had a few more games as well, losing in a nail biter to the Project Evolution clan proving that our guys are finding their feet and starting to get involved in some classic games!
The Special Forces team managed by Systemlord in the ADSA 8v8 ladder has also been going great. Actually this team always has, sitting on first spot for most of the season and that is where we ended the season too, and secured a very nice set of fixtures through the finals. So i guess that means we have 3 teams now in first position or challenging for first position. And the SF team has a great opportunity to finish the season in a very high position on the ladder.
I think that is it. This is easily our busiest time ever with 6 teams all getting a game each week, in the finals in SF and in the Money comp for nGR, we will continue waving the *AUS* banner high everywhere we go during this time or burn out trying. Next update will be in a few weeks. |
