Gotta say, We've got some great friends with AvA. We teamed up with them against TOG on Battle of Britain.
Bigbird has a way with words.
In an awesome nail biting finish AUS (with coalition partners AvA) fought a fierce 4 round match against a well organised ToG clan. Final score AUS/AvA 165 TOG 109.
Here's the highlights on how it went for AUS...
In round one AUS were put onto defence, but what a first round it was. The struggle to maintain the constant repair and AA defence of both the factory and our radar sites against a swarm of continuous air bombardment was signficantly the hardest obstactle of this map. ToG hit our factory from behind in the first round as Axis, taking a flight path we never expected, circling far from the west and creeping up the back, effective, plus it avoided most of our AA. They also got soldiers on the ground planting mines on the bridges between the Western bridge radar an the Eastern bridge radar's. They air dropped snipers on the hillsides surrounding the factory, picking off our engineer's from a safe distance. After the subsequent loss of each radar site the factory was held at all costs which in the end gave us victory in the first round. 73-0 Winner - AUS/AvA
Round two, Axis. In a well rehearsed flying formation the bomber group formed up with 4 bombers with fighter escort. In our first pass the Western radar was taken out. Although the factory would prove a little more difficult to take out. It took four or more passes for the bomber group to take out the factory, which cost us alot of tickets. In the heat of the battle we had to pull back and reform the bomber group while the allies pulled some sneaky shit by doing bombing runs on our airfield. At the end of this round they had one radar site standing which we almost destroyed completely. So we lost this round. 109-0 Winner - TOG
Round Three. Back to defence. ToG were clearly following a list of targets, they came at us from the West and flew underneath the radar, so to speak, creeping up the river flying underneath the bridges to avoid AA fire. This time they launched massive para drops around the factory carefully placing snipers to give our Engineer's there more strife. The factory was hammered and more than once I thought we were going to lose it completely, But the engineers and the soldiers defending it did more than their job and kept it going. Then ToG sort of broke ranks and started hitting the Western radar's. By now the lag experienced during gameplay was impossible. I had difficulty changing items in my kit. Who cares, we won. 72-0 Winner - AUS/AvA
Round Four. We launched with a very clean and well co-ordinated first run at our objectives. The lag...Grrr! I had a few mid air engine stalls, Morden could'nt even move, and others lost all flight control when going for targets. I saw two planes wink off the map when this lag kicked in. Oh well. The set flight path was followed even when things looked worse for wear. But, we stuck to the plan, the factory took a little longer but after it was smashed ther was only two radars remaining because in the heat of the battle we had managed to take out an extra radar site. Our dogfights were the most impressive i'm yet to see. I watched the dogfighting while coming in on a bomber, planes exploding around me. I asked DMW, who was ina fighter to take me in to the target area, he did, and before long the ToG allied fighters were all over us. Thanks to Dropbear who had my back on one of those bombing runs too. Improving on the strtas we dropped signifcantly more troops with AT kits onto the allied positions, where as we should 've done more of this from the word go. Near the end, when clearing out the eastern radar sites i looked at the tickets and still felt it was anyone's game. In one example of heroic's, Clintcom came in at the end with a well calculated run at the Eastern radar site which helped us secure victory. 20-0 Winner - AUS/AvA
In conclusion our victory was achieved by following the plan and making good improv of the strats we had. Our coalition with AvA was great, you guys had our backs the whole time and if we can ever repay the favor, we will. For us, AUS, we have a good core team now that I think we should capatilise upon. We needed a good decent win after yet so many defeats, and now we have two recent wins, both on BoB under our belts. Even though these have been free-play games they still count towards how we work as a team. What I mean is, the victory last night was no means an easy one, and I should'nt say we got lucky but the battle for us to get there as a team in the first place is probably the greater victory. So, to those of you that have perservered through these rough times I salute you. Let's keep it going and get ready for official ladder season to commence.
