APRIL
April has been half as busy as last month for us as most of the ladders we participate in have come to/are coming to a close. Season 4 of the *AUS* in-house BR comp began as registrations opened and our first race was held at the end of the month once registrations were closed.
In regards to our BF2 ladder participation, our Heavy Weapons Team (HwT) faced off against The Black Knights 667th in the Gamearena (GA) 14v14 ladder. In a match that resulted in a good win for *AUS*, it secured our entry into the finals that will be played out next month. We look forth to some GG's as the Point of Existance mod has been an absolute pleasure for us all and we hope, in what may be the last finals for large format BF2, to go out with a bang!
As for our team in the GA 10v10 ladder, Light Infantry Division (LiD), they had some ups and downs vs Australian Field Operatives (AFO), TOG|Phoenix (TOG|) & Team ParaBellum (-pB.). A final defeat at Dalian Plant, thoroughly handed to us by -pB., firmly kept us out of the finals. Better luck next season LiD.
Continuing the finals fever, our Gamespace 10v10 team (GS), blitzed three finals rounds across three weekends against Southern Cross (+SC+), Aussie Militia (A|M) and Team Renegade (tR), resulting in two wins and a loss. The loss against tR at the end of the month also prevented GS from advancing any further in the ladder. Good effort this season guys, keep at it next season.
Next is our Cybergamer 6v6 ladder team which is where all the drama mentioned at the start has centred around. As we won the semi-finals against Oleks Army (oA|.), almister, previously founder and leader of the clan EvilFun (-Evi|.) and now Captain of the 6v6 team, had decided that the merger with *AUS* wasn't quite working out and was considering leaving to reform -Evi|. As he made those intentions clear, what followed next surpassed the wildest imaginations of supporters of President Eisenhower's domino theory and the clan went through one of its largest domestic e-dramas since the upheaval in leadership two and a half years ago that resulted in the *AUS* BF division lasting till this very day, and as competitive as ever.
To cut to the chase, we had an exodus of players who we had welcomed with open arms and accepted into the core of the clan's many teams. As most of them were relatively new members with past clan experience (compared to the clan virgins we have historically recruited and trained), their departure left *AUS* a little less livelier but relatively unscathed as we simply returned to where we were a year ago. Not being the types to let a bad experience keep us down and out, in true *AUS* spirit we marched forth into the Grand Final to fight x5 on two maps, and we performed better than we ever had against x5 through out the 6v6 season. We kept nailing down the lost tickets from 56-0 to 44-0 to 30-0 during the first three rounds so we were quite delighted with that result after all the e-drama and the 6v6 team now without a Captain.
And that wraps up the fever pitched April finals campaign by *AUS*.
Our Project Reality (PR) team is still lingering around, bored out of their minds since being soundly defeated in December by BigD on their home turf of Ejod Desert. The defensive play style with the goal of causing attrition warfare was a slap in the face to the way *AUS* plays its BF2 games yet the guys are as keen as ever for BigD to start the second season of their PR ladder so we can further develop our tactics and maybe even exact some revenge along the way.
In other news, the 1.5 patch is reaching completion and with ever more news gracing the front pages of games sites, we wait enthusiastically for BF2's too-little-too-late final patch. With beta testing complete, the open beta is now imminent. Also, BF1943 has been confirmed for a September release! With gamers' faces worldwide still glued to the Wake Island trailer and game play demos, some of our members are excited about this installment of BF. See you on the battlefield when it comes out! For now, Happy April Fools Day and hope you went out and thanked a veteran digger on ANZAC Day. |
