*AUS*:LiD vs OL -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Monday, April 21 2008 |
The AUS:LID team rolled out on a map that we had never played before in the 10 v 10 format against the outlaws. Sharqi Peninsula. With no chopper on the map and a tank each side this was set up to be yet another infantry encounter.
As US the plan was simple. Have a few Anti Tank guys spawn in to try and hit their outgoing Vodniks while the rest of the team stayed in a deadpool to defend against the incoming rush of troops that OL were sure to send us. We found ourselves under immense pressure early on as the outlaws sent their main squad to TV station and the tank up to fire on construction. With a full squad of outlaws at TV our tanker Rick and Alpha squad spawned in to help Bravo defend against the insurging OL team. With most of our forces defending at TV station the OL guys managed to assault construction and cap the flag to stop the bleeding tickets. The team fought hard to defend the two remaining flags but after a constant barrage the AUS:LID team fell to a capout of 100 tickets.
The halftime break saw alterations to the strat and motivational speeches from a few of the guys. Forcing a capout was the general idea going into the second round and with that we were ready to face up, locked and loaded.
The rollout saw all our infantry pushing up the ridge for TV station in one big mass and ploughing our way through anything that stood before us. We grouped in on the flag and had it going down at a rapid rate until a lonemans' grenade ruined the party and took out all but one LID infantryman who goes by the name of Schofield. Quick thinking squad leader Systemlord re-arranged Alpha squad so as to be able to spawn at TV, as Bravo made their way back up the ridge toward the flag. Tank steals were occuring and the map held for a great round of organised carnage. Everyone was checking the ticket count as it was getting close to the dreaded 100 tickets that we lost in the first round. When it happened it was all at once. Bravo and Alpha capped TV, the tanker and a lone gunman capped office buildings as our trusty commander Helo on his fourth attempt capped construction. We checked that no one was still alive and all three flags were capped and the roar in teamspeak spelt victory. Another one of those close intense matches that the LID team were able to pull away with a win.
Well done to the people who played. Im sure this is one of those close matches to remember.
Well done to Rick for taking out LID's first Player of The Match award.
Thanks goes out to Outlaws for an intense and great match. You guys put up a great fight and played the first round brilliantly. |
*AUS* vs AvA -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Thursday, April 17 2008 |
On the night of Sunday 13 AUS loaded into the 2nd dalian plant game in a row but our recent victory over DNA on this map had little to no effect on our confidence because this time it was AvA tags on the other side and those tags have haunted us since season 1.
Nurofen at the ready, we launched out of the china main and began working on that imminent headache. This round was crap for us, we took whatever flags and stopped the bleed but couldn't do much beyond that, it was clear that despite the J10 advantage, Ribbycage and Idrakoni were putting the hurt on and pushing us onto the back foot. It wall went pear shaped when someone stole our J10 and i failed to prevent it... i forget who it was which is amazing because i was cursing his name and screaming at my clan to get the stingers onto him but he got away with holding it most, if not all the round and we went down in a screaming heap. 75 to 0. AUS should have won as China so a loss of 75 was just crap.
As USMC with plenty of pissed off AUS members and all hope abandoned, we threw ourselves of the carrier and failed our rollout. AvA took reactor towers when ricolee got a good TV shot onto our transport to that flag and the other flags we pushed at were grey with only 1 or 2 blue dots on it for what seemed like an eternity. Some other stuff happened but the AvA j10s were owning and AUS had no chance. But somehow we pushed back hard, we took all the capable flags and ripped many tickets off AvA on Bleed – i dont know how much but maybe 80 or more.. they won the 2nd round by only 33, and just guess the kdr of their jets!!, so maybe the ticket bleed was a lot more.. a few close calls we cleaned up here and there kept the pressure on until AvA took our front two flags went to AvA in the last few tickets of the game.
So 108 to AvA – close to a few of the predictions We knew itd be a hard game and AvA didnt disappoint. We took away some positives from the game with the capout – we were pretty chuffed with that.. can only wonder what might have been if we had only not failed as china.
GG AvA GG nGR - i look forward to downloading the cast GG to Cadre for the warmup scrim

*AUS* vs DnA -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Sunday, April 6 2008 |
Tonight our 16v16 team took on DNA on Dalian Plant. DNA have had a shady history with Dalian Plant so we were a little surprised with them selecting that as the map, but the loss to us in the finals game by 1 point would still be stinging so we went into the game a little cautious knowing they would want revenge.
Round 1 as USMC our flyboys threw themselves from the carrier and the squads parachuted in and opened their guns up on the DNA team as China around reatctor towers. We took our target flags but had a big fight on our hands at reactor towers that required a heck of a lot of bombs and chopper support and artillary and great squad work to eventually clear. We pushed harder this time than any other time as USMC from memory and capped DNA out of the capable flags. Twice! But they surged back. TWICE! And so for more time than we would like we were bottled in at reactor towers and lost the round by 54 tickets despite the great start.
Round 2 with the J10 we were looking to turn the game back in our favour. Again our rollouts worked a treat, though DNA made it hard around the reactor towers flag and it took many goes before we were able to secure that flag. Then we executed the bottle in tactic of the enemy in south docks that won us the finals game in season 2 against AvA. DNA weren't happy with that though, and got a FAV through our blockade and took our main entrance flag and that really took some effort to take back. But the damage was done at this stage and we took the round by 112 tickets.
GG DNA and great turn around in the first round but BL on Dalian Plant i know its not your favourite map. GG AUS boys we have, for the first time in AUS battlefield history, the AUS team sits in first position of the ladder.

*AUS*:LiD vs BTK -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Saturday, April 5 2008 |
Well done to BTK who won off a capout in the first round by 13 tickets.
The AUS:LID team rolled out as US on Road to Jalalabad with a few new faces to the team and some pre-match training under the belt. The rollout went as planned, Alpha squad lead by Systemlord fought hard and capped market, as Charlie, lead by Keagle took hotel with the help of veteran tanker Extractor. With three flags and an increasing push by Systems squad on Mosque things were looking promising. The rollout had succeeded and we owned three flags to BTK's one. The Jihad jeep was on the loose taking out extractor and things grew frantic around Junkyard as they snuck around our squads and spawned to cap our main. With market undefended and unsuccesful surges on mosque market fell to the hands of BTK and Hotel was under a growing threat. With only one flag we tryed to push out but against the BTK's hardened defense a capout was inevitable.
Well done BTK on a great first round caping us out and taking the round by 113 tickets.
With a smashed look on our faces we decided we have to go for the capout and re-adjusted the strat to allow for a do-or-die situation. Alpha was to go to Market and Charlie was to go to Mosque while our main needed to be closely held with the defense of Extractor in the tank. The rollout once again went as planned and BTK were on the backfoot. Dejavu? This time Extractor was determined not to let anything past him and Alpha and Charlie joined forces to assault their main. The ensuing battle in junkyard grew extremely hectic the closer we got and in the end saw all squads and our tanker capping their main flag.
Well done AUS:LID on the capout taking the round by 100 tickets.
Thanks for BTK for a great match and well done on the win. Hope to see you guys again soon. |
