*AUS* vs aK^ -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Monday, March 31 2008 |
Its the major league now, loading in on our latest 16v16 game lastnight to see our enemy all sporting aK^ tags. These guys have, for a long time, been probably the most successful (in terms of wins) clan in Australia, in that they win all the money comps, have done so for ages, and have even been flown oversees to play in comps for some other games.. They are a smaller team though, who had to recruit to be able to get numbers for the 16v16 format which they have entered in preparation for the upcoming netGameRadio 16v16 BF2 money comp. So I picked Oman as the map, we knew ak were looking for flyboys and had hoped that if on no other level, we might be able to maximise some advantage in the jets and the choppers which are quite important to Oman. Thats how the logic went anyway..
Round 1 as MEC we pushed in force at one of the beach front flags and failed. The jets fought for a while but they got us down eventually and the 16v16 oman baserape went into effect – if anyone has experienced that im sure you can sympathise. MEC airfield is perhaps the worst square 100m patch of dirt in the game when the f35s get raping. We threw too many tickets trying to get he assets up but failed. They pushed a squad too into our uncap there, ontop of the oil cistern and caused some trouble with AT kits keeping our jets down so their jets could focus on smashing flags.. arty and some good AT and FAV work got a lot of them dead but i dont know if we ever did clean them out of our main. I suspect a SL may have still been up there. We lost Hotel there too then it was just construction. So for the most part we had 1 flag somewhere as mec. aK^ took round 1 by 160 tickets.
Round two was better for AUS, in that we had things we could take away from it.. we dont learn much from MEC airfield rapes apart from why we dont want to let it happen... but as USMC we learned a few things. We decided to absorb any attack they made on our main 3 flags which we did.. kinda. before we pushed out. They took river quickly though and we pushed for hotel and failed. So we had only 2 flags and under the bleed. But we eventually took hotel and lost another.. back and forth back and forth then capout. The carrier rape was in effect and it could have been all over but some lucky squad leaders managed to get back in and grey 2 and cap 1 - olive i think it was. Our flyboys then were able to get back up in the air and enjoy some air time, taking down the mig and the su and then raping the MEC airfield and keeping the jets and chopper dead. Our chopper was then able to get in and support the infantry which allowed us to take and hold two and push for three. So that was the positive thing for AUS – we fought back and gave a go of it against aK that is something we can take away from the game at least, but the game was long since lost and the round finished with another 92 tickets to aK^
Well played team landaxe 252 to 0 It was bad but not our worst loss and considering we were down on a few key guys i think we did as good as we could.
So that is a few losses in a row now for our 16v16 team. While not fun, we do take comfort from the fact that we are playing the best of the best of the best. Losing at this end of the ladder is better than dominating the bottom end.

*AUS* vs AvA on Mashtuur -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Monday, March 24 2008 |
Tonight *AUS* played AvA + AFO, evidently they merged, on Mashtuur city. Round 1 was quite intense, the AvA flag of Hotel was going up and down all round with both teams enjoying a healthy portion of bleed, slightly favouring *AUS*, possibly padded by kdr, by about 40 tickets and we looked set to take the round. But at some point there our wheels fell off. Im not sure which flag went down but it meant that we had 2 for a while, then only 1 flag.. then capout :( AvA pushed hard and capped us with 13 on the clock when we were about 4 from round end.. or thereabouts.
Round two for *AUS* was much worse. We had 3 flags on rollout and kept them for only a moment. It seemed as though we were on only 2 flags for majority of that round. Whatever we took we lost quickly and while continually had to push for flags we haemorrhaged tickets which meant that AvAAfO enjoyed a more comfortable win that round. 68 tickets i think.
That was our challenge for 1st spot.
A bit of a fail game on our part, many things just didnt work and didnt gell and teams at this end of the ladder will make you pay for every little mistake. Taking nothing away from AvA though, you guys played well as always, im sure we'll see you guys many more times before this season is done.. Barra |
*AUS*:WC vs KTA -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Sunday, March 23 2008 |
Aus started as pac in the first round. We loaded everybody into the vechiles and charge into the city. We capped our first flag without any drama unfortunaly KTA had secured both there first flag and moved up to church that to. After a few atempts and with help from the armour we managed to push Kta out of church, secure it and with a quick cordinated push we manage to move and cap there last city flag. Kta managed t get there walker back into the city and cap a flag but it was to late as the round ended. *AUS* 39-- KTA 0
In round 2 aus played as EU. We did the same rollout only to recieve the same result except we got to the church flag at the same time as KTA. We kept one flag for the most of the round and managed to grey one of the others several times but credit of KTA they manage to secure church and our final flag and kick us out of the city. With tickets getting low several desperate attemps where made to try capture a flag and in the end sweeper managed to push the apc through to there rear most flag and cap it but it was to little to late. Round ended *AUS* 0--- KTA 80
Thanks KTA for the game fun was had by all, cant wait to play you guys again. gl with the rest of your season. |
*AUS*:WC vs (AEF) Devils Bridgade -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Thursday, March 20 2008 |
On the 19th *AUS*'s 2142 team, the "Wrecking Crew" squared off against AEF's Devils Brigade.
Aus started as pac in the first round. We moved onto our first flag at a decent pace and capped that. With the jeep run around the side not yielding much in the way of results it was soon abandoned. both squads regrouped nicely and pushed up on foot with the walker supporting. the guys fought hard to cap the AEF guys flags but unfortunately for us AEF had snuck some guys through to cap our flags at the same time .With some great work from the guys on the ground we where able to take main office back and hold AEF into living quaters . round ended *AUS* 69<> (AEF) 14
In round 2 aus played as EU. The start was a little disorganized with confusion over who was taking the jeep. We ended with one squad stuck at our main . After a minute or two we regrouped, capped the Eastern docks flag and where ready to push over the river and take a piece of the pac teams turf. There where some intense fighting with flags all over the map going up and down. one minute we only had one flag, next minute we had three and this continued untill the end of the round . Credit to the guys for putting up a great fight and managing to finish the round with a 94 ticket lead. Round ended *AUS* 94 <> (AEF) 0
GG AEF - look forward to seeing you guys again soon |
*AUS* v RAAF 16v16 -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Monday, March 17 2008 |
Well no rest for the wicked. Season 5 started last night for our HwT team after only a 3 week break (I think) since our last game. A number of boys made the comment that another week or three would have been nice but GA were keen to get another season underway and who are we to complain? Defending 2nd spot on the ladder RAAF hit us for a weapons test on Karkand – a bitter sweet map for *AUS* and an old favourite for RAAF who have an almost perfect record on the infantry focused map.
A bunch of new guys thrown into the mix, and others finding new roles to play made us feel as though we really had fight on our hands – especially considering RAAF’s record on the map. We lost the first round as MEC, it was a typical ‘back and forth’ pub session of squads bouncing all over the map. RAAF had a large ticket advantage for most of the round but the *AUS* boys were able to claw that back by about half as RAAF came in and took our Gatehouse flag which could have cost a lot of tickets but a number of counter zerg attacks meant that RAAF weren’t able to capitalise on the securing of that flag, having to pay some high taxes in tickets to keep it. The ticket difference at this point was only 5 now but RAAF surged back and blew the difference back out to 18 in favour of RAAF when the round ended.
Round two as USMC we enjoyed a little more success. Our tanker, BaronWinds, had a cracker of a round with something like 35 – 1 and so with a tank dominating like that you can imagine RAAF had a hard time of things despite being able to spawn in with the hard hitting AK-101. Unfortunately, everyone’s worst Karkand nightmare happened this round, and it was all *AUS*’s fault, as we took everything West of the river and then found ourselves in the same kind of stalemate across the river that cost us the Grandfinal game in season 2. Luckily for us, this time, at this point the damage was mostly done and we took the round by 80 odd tickets and so the game was ours, defending our spot and adding a blemish on the almost faultless Karkand record of RAAF.
GG to netGameRadio for casting the game GG to RAAF – cya next time guys GG to all the new guys at *AUS* that got a run this game, and Helo commanding his first proper 16v16 game and enjoying being able to play with the arty. I think this is the first time since our grand final loss that we played Karkand (no other games come to mind anyway) so it was good to get a positive result on this map that has been both cruel and kind to us over the seasons.
