*AUS* v =RAAF= -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Sunday, March 25 2007 |
Ooops slight mixup with the cutoff date mean we could be challenged again before ladder lock. And we were by =RAAF=. It was a fun game leading into the finals, we played on Daqing Oilfields and started as china.
Our rollout went well and we took 3 flags and pushed for a forth that failed, either way we had the bleed and so that’s basically how we won the round, padded with a few extra J10 and bomber ticket kills of course. Moments before round end we took our 4th flag and 61 tickets all told for round 1.
After a massive delay (yes Twin we know its hard to changes sides......) we got cracking as USMC where our rollout failed. But we got there in the end and with our 3 flags we absorbed a strong =RAAF= attack won the round with 32 tickets.
GG RAAF we always enjoy playing you guys.. Sorry about it being us that denied you your finals spot but look forward to seeing you guys again in the next season.

*AUS* v AvA -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Sunday, March 18 2007 |
*AUS* challenged up from 3rd to first placed AvA in a tactical ploy to secure our top 4 spot by not risking a game in defence so close to season lockdown. We knew this would be our hardest match however we werent going to stress if we lost, we did hope for a win though. :)
First round on Oman as USMC we pushed out and took construction and tried for Hotel. Not sure what else happened at that point but soon after it all went to crap. AvA didn’t hit us on the carrier as much as I thought they could have, which meant our boys in the jets were keeping their jets busy in dog fights. At any rate AvA took the flags they needed and kept the bleed on. We went down by 73.
Round two as MEC we braced for more hurt. Our rollout failed and we didn’t really respond well to that. We bled heavily from the flag bleed and running single file in the AvA meat grinder. We couldn’t really bounce back from that, and with 100 tickets to go a squad hit our MEC airbase and took our assets our and grabbed our tank which caused havoc. When we got that back under control AvA had every other flag and we kissed our arses goodbye as AvA secured another 117 tickets for the round.
190 to zip
Wow AvA you spanked us hard. I think we put up a good fight in some aspects but on the whole you had it over us despite what we threw at you. We took a lot away from this game anyway and look forward to see you in the finals. |
*AUS* V Outlaws -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Sunday, March 11 2007 |
For the last week the *AUS* officers have been stressing somewhat leading up to the game we played tonight against Outlaws. Due to some disputed results last week we were unable to challenge who we had planned and so our only chance at a shot upwards in the ladder was to challenge Outlaws – a clan we know very little about. We have seen them from time to time in pub games and know that their infantry skills are VERY good!
We were stressing about the outcome of this game because a win would give us a finals spot but a loss would effectively end our season. This was a true “Do or Die” game for us.
Karkand was the map and we started as USMC. We applied a new strat this time, one less risky than our normal strats for this map and we played it safe as much as possible we knew every ticket would count. Hotel fell to us quickly and the fighting took to the streets from there.
Square was a hard cap which they took back from us quickly. We bounced then between there and Hotel many times before securing both and then pushed through to market. We took suburbs after that... the rest boiled down to a very hard fought pub against skilled squads but we managed to hold them back for 45.
As always its harder to win as MEC on this map, so with this in the back of our minds we braced for the OL onslaught. Luckily we managed to stop their medic run with some good Tank work and mine placement. And we kept the bleed on to deny them the USMC ticket advantage before the first flag went grey. The rest, like the first round, went to a bit of a pub, some proactive work and some falling back responding to flag losses. [OL] pulled out some great squad work and on numerous occasions we were left sprinting madly from our only flag for a quick easy cap somewhere for safety. The game abruptly came to an end however when we had only the Hotel left and [OL] greyed it. Our last few guys died before securing a flag but to my surprise we had the ticket advantage at that point which mean that despite the cap-out we only lost by 32.
So the end result was 13 tickets to *AUS* and was a very tough match as we knew it would be.
We were two key players down and had a third dropout at the last second which makes this win a big relief. Fortunately the tough game went our way and so *AUS* are in the finals and will be giving it a RED hot go for a top placing.
GG Outlaws. It was good to finally meet you in a real BF2 game and am sure we will see you again in the finals games in the coming weeks.
A big THANKYOU goes out from the officers to all *AUS* members. We have all worked hard this season and the results are on the board to prove it, we have reached the goal we set for ourselves at the start of the season and so have accomplished everything we hoped for in season 2. Anything from here out is a bonus.

*AUS* v A$$ on Mashy -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Sunday, March 4 2007 |
*AUS* challenged A$$ for the 8th spot on the ladder and so the game played out tonight on Mashy.
A$$ had a good win on this map last week and we had this in the back of our minds going in.
Our rollout went to plan as USMC and took the flags we needed, we held them for most of the round and managed at one point to push them back to the power plant flag only. Despite some create squad work from their spawn chopper A$$ couldnt stop the bleed from our flags and we won the round with 145 points.
Round 2 as mec we had about the same amount of luck with our rollout. The beloved AK-101 helped us in capping them back to 2 flags and from memory I think that’s how it stayed for most of the round. They took some of our critical flags which we had to turn around to defend but again the flag bleed took us to a win for that round of 131.
Thanks A$$ and all the best with your future games.
