GA 16 v 16 *AUS* vs eVo -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Friday, November 16 2007 |
Lastnight *AUS* were invited to go on a drive along the sunny, sandy Tampa Highway by some friends across the Trench. Setting our alarm clocks to get up at dawn we turned computers on, yawned and logged in with the other groggy voices in TS. You could almost smell the bacon and eggs through the mic.
With the sleep wiped from our eyes we set off down the road towards a couple of holiday villas we knew of to have a restful morning. Unfortunately the NZ tourists had other ideas and made quite a bit of noise. Obviously not affected by jet lag they forced us into an ugly fight for the keys of Kuhlaz and nicked the petrol from gas station and took the prime riverside real estate of Refinery. It was about now that the body clock kicked in and not wanting to be left without a way to get home we took gas station and bled it dry before moving on Refinery. As usual riverside property is expensive and eVo made us pay ‘cause by the time we had it they had Gas Station again.
The rest of the first round was pretty much rinse and repeat but somehow *AUS* ended up with 101 free vouchers for a McDonalds breakfast meal.
Swapping our Middle Eastern jalopies for some fine American iron for the rest of the journey, our plan was to mosey on up the Tampa drag and fire up the Barbie at the three nearest camping sites. This went well until we cam across some squatters at Refinery, who rather than graciously accept the eviction notice, kicked us out instead. We pretty much spent the rest of the trip chasing around for the best spot for a kip..each time being harrassed by NZ backpackers either taking up the best spots or making so much noise while we were trying to catch up from our early start that we had to leave.
The NZ squatters made one particularly sneaky and skillful invasion of our villa at Kuhlaz, which to the great embarrassment of the landlord took some fixing. The final result of this ride was an additional 120 tickets to *AUS* for the bumper car ride
Having collected 221 vouchers and tickets we left the backpackers with nothing except a great view of the river, top BBQ spots and all the best hammocks.
GG eVo, really tough fight not reflected on the scoreboard especially in light of you being 2 down most of the time.
Good debut match for XenFen who managed to not get lost in the dust. |
*AUS*:LiD vs ADP -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Saturday, November 10 2007 |
Well done to AUS:LiD who won the match by 103 tickets.
The AUS:LiD crew rolled out as MEC in the first round. Our defences where spread thin and it wasn't long before ADP got behind us and threatened our base. Most of the round was spent watching our assets get blown sky high, defending the base, repairing radar, take a deep breath and then the cycle started again. ADP did not give up and kept the pressure on all round. In the end though we won by 63 tickets.
Round 2 saw both sides committing the bulk of our forces to the same flag. We tried again and again to take our first flag and the bleed was against us for too long. We finally stopped the bleed but before we could regroup ADP launched wave after wave trying to take back that flag. It wasn't until we got a SL in behind their base that the pressure came off and AUS could setup good kill zones and win the round. Final round win for AUS by 40 tickets.
Well done ADP for keep up the pressure on and making us pay for everything we wanted. It was a real challenge getting the upper hand and a fun game. See you next time. |
*AUS* vs 3FSJ -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Wednesday, November 7 2007 |
Again on Abandoned Village, however this game was against an old friends and scrim partners from season 2 and 3.. they were also a bit of a nemesis, being the clan that defeated us in the season 2 grand final. 3FSJ.
Again, challenging ever upward AUS plays USMC first and, sporting a 3rd generation strat for this map we hit hard and took the first round by 107 tickets. We held 4 flags for quite a while, then alleyway dropped, then some other flag somewhere fell and all of a sudden we had 2 flags. 3FSJ fought hard for those flags and held them in defence, we were unable to get their main flags but managed a sneaky cap of under bridge a few times to get the bleed working in our favour again.
As MEC we hit hard with our beloved AK101 but with a useless chopper and 3FSJ fighting harder by the minute we struggled to stay in control. We were lucky in that we were able to keep their chopper down or otherwise distracted and so that nimble little ticket machine was unable to have the impact on our bottom line as 3FSJ might have hoped. Round two ended with 45 on the clock giving AUS the victory.
It was good to see you guys again 3FSJ, friendly and good sports as ever. GG and hope to see you again. |
*AUS*:LiD vs [SoD] -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Sunday, November 4 2007 |
Well done to Soldiers of Destruction who won the match by 24 tickets.
The AUS:LiD crew rolled out as USMC in the first round. Both teams seem to be reading each others minds cause we went for the same flags with the same level of forces and determination. This theme carried throughout the round. Every flag we wanted and took, SoD wanted it back more and so flags were going up and down all over the map over and over. At the end of the round AUS:LiD were relieved to win the round by 10 tickets.
Round 2 saw both sides committing the bulk of our forces to the same objectives. Like round one we didn't do anything half hearted and SoD were quick to redeploy and meet us with equal numbers and determination. In a 10v10 game I have never seen so much fighting were both armour crews and squads of 5-6 are headbutting each other so much. Great fun but dam hard work. Our opponent seemed to regularly come away from our clashes slightly better off and over the round gave them the advantage. They used the map TOW's to great effect and brought our armour down many times. The bleed was against us for too long and so LiD made a few desperate moves to secure the win. Well you roll the dice and sometimes it pays off but not for us that round.
Well done SoD who won the round by 34 tickets and the match. Thanks for a great game that challenged the LiD crew and taught valuable lessons. See you next time. |
*AUS* vs H1I -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Thursday, November 1 2007 |
Up again early for a yet another challenge up the ladder, though only a small jump to Hells First Infantry in 12th spot saw us load again onto the odd little ghost town of Abandoned Village.
AUS being the challenges of course rolled out as USMC and took the round with 111 tickets. H1I pushed hard greying or capping every flag we had but we managed a push back onto them holding the number of flags we required to get keep the bleed for the most part and the clean ticket kills you tend to get when fighting off waves of attacks onto your defensive lines.
Round two as MEC really had us pumped. 2 flags then 3 flags then 2 then 3, and repeat all round. H1I really fought hard for the come back in round two and made us earn very ticket. Unfortunately they weren't able to capture the tickets required and we managed to take that round too with 44 tickets left. Which really doesnt reflect just how aggressively H1I brought the fight to us in that round two. Really well played.
Again always a pleasure meeting you H1I boys on the field of battle. Thanks for great game! We'll see you again before this season is done im sure! |
