'Twas a draw. 1-1. As usual we kicked arse on the warm up map and beat them to a bloody pulp. Come game time we won the first map as allies 39-0. We lost the second map as axis after giving up a lead of about 70 tickets, the score 0-9. Then in the third map we had major server troubles, the average ping on the server was between 800 and 1200ms! We couldn't get any consistent ping times and everybody was having difficulties so the rest of the game was called off.
It was good fun though! Once again *AUS* demonstrated its superior individual skill. We have some of the finest players in Australia and probably in the world. However, that doesn't mean we win every map. We recognise that we need to work on our team play for future matches.
Thankyou ROI for a great game. |
BKM GameArena Match -- Posted by DSL on Wednesday, November 13 2002 |
Last night we had a match against the Bloody Knife Murderers (BKM). The match was a best of 4x30 minute rounds on Wake Island. Unfortunately *AUS* lost 3-0. The final results were:
Round 1: 66-0, BKM winning as allies Round 2: 9-11, BKM winning as axis Round 3: 60-0, BKM winning as allies
I think overall we played well, having the top individual player in all rounds. BKM were just more prepared on the night though. I was very impressed with the tactics that they employed, especially as allies where they overwhelmed us.
We did, however, smash them in the warm-up round!
Round 1 saw our every move anticipated by BKM, we got in our LV's, tried to row ashore and were either bombed by planes on the way, or, killed by infantry when we got to land. We also noted that BKM would use 4-man teams to attack spawn points, whereas we only used 2-man teams.
Round 2 was great fun and *AUS* were ahead until the last 10 seconds when an expak took out 3 of our guys to seal BKM's victory in that round. Those of you who played will remember me shouting "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" on Roger Wilco.
Round 3 was a replica of round 1. Except for some cheating allegations at the start of the map when one of our players accidently went allies instead of axis, proceeded to get into a plane, fly it and then committed suicide when he realised he was playing for the wrong side. BKM were suitably peeved about this because they lost a plane for a few minutes. We had allegations that we were cheaters and called many names. Had we won the map I would have forfeited it to BKM anyway, but as it stands they still won. After these allegations a couple of our players left the match. We were short of players and very demoralised from the accusations of cheating. I even left for a while to regain composure as by this stage I was pulling my hair out.
Anyway, BKM have taught us quite a bit and are a truly professional squad. However, they better try some different tactics next time as we have their every move listed on our forum and are currently dissecting them to see what we can use for ourselves and how we can counter it.
I look forward to our next scrimmage with BKM. |
