August/September Update -- Posted by Mr_AussieDevil on Friday, October 15 2010 |
The oldest competitive BF2 team in Australian history opened its doors again. That's right the *AUS* HWT team once again polished its boots and buckled up for some ladder action. GameArena decided to open up the longest running BF2 ladder. The new 'no-nade' mod 6v6 with custom maps was opened and more than 10 teams became active once again. *AUS* HWT team which started way back in early 2006 opened up yet another campaign with a win. This was not just any old win but the match chalked up *AUS* HWT 100th regular season game. This does not include finals which we have not missed for 6 seasons. The match against a new but fierce opponent BORN was on the Great Wall map and comfortably *AUS* won 192-0 with a quick cap out in round 2. We look forward to many more BF2 matches in this new season and once again strive for finals whilst having as much fun as possible.
During the two months of August and September the Bad Company 2 team played a total of 14 matches with a win to loss ratio of 8:6. This was across two ladders, the GameArena 8v8 Conquest and the CyberGamer 8v8 Conquest. One particular match that will go down in the BC2 history books for *AUS* was the match against Black Legion Mercenaries on Panama Canal where *AUS* held on to win 11-9 in a nail biter. The last 5mins of round 2 saw the most frantic revives I have seen since the days of BF2. Great game BLM and well done to all the *AUS* lads who fought hard right down to the wire. The Bad Company 2 team continues to fight on in both these ladders and now also competes in the new GameArena 8v8 Rush ladder which is exciting for the lads.
The future looks bright for Bad Company 2 and *AUS* with the imminent release of the Multiplayer expansion pack Vietnam. As soon as a ladder or two are open with the new maps and weapons I'm sure the boys will be eager to compete in them.
*AUS* has always been welcome to new people who wish to learn about competitive online gaming or those wishing to further push their current boundaries on the battlefield. This has been evident over this period with a steady flow of recruits joining the ranks here at *AUS*. With the Bad Company 2 community not showing as much interest compared to when it was released this is a huge positive for the clan going forward.
In other news the 2011 *AUS* Network LAN discussions are still going on over at the Network Forums http://forums.aus-squad.com/index.php?topic=846.0
The date and location have been locked in. The venue as per previous years is in Brisbane in early January 2011. Those that haven't gone along to one before I urge you to get out there even if it's just to say hello to the other members of the *AUS* Network. There's always a good feed put on by some of the *AUS* members that live locally and also some good fierce competitions spanning across the titles that each division plays.
For the last few years the BF division has been the majority of the turn out so let’s make it 3 in a row and have a good time!!
