*AUS*:LiD vs Carnage -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Monday, January 21 2008 |
Tonight *AUS*:LiD played a game against the Carnage clan in defense of 5th spot.
Cleansweep is one of those bitter sweet maps. As US, if you rolled gets pushed back then it can all go pear shaped real quick. And their pilot made short work of our attacks. We bailed 3 times on flags but could not close the deal due to good co-ordination from Carnage Jet and commander. The rest was the usual struggle to get the jet in the air and boots to land. No joy.
As MEC we had a deadpool of 6 and were confident of dealing with their bail. But Carnage had an amazing strat. The short version is the successfully capped small airfield and we were screwed from there. If yu wanna know how they did iut watch the BR. It was very well executed. An APC, Mobile AA and 6 guys couldnt stop em. Thanks to their pilot and squad work.
I wish I had something positive to say about our play. I suppose I could say that we fielded a new mix of people and we did not gel they way I had hoped. Players were given different jobs for a change and it did not work out. At the end of the day Carnage were a good team who thrashed us.

*AUS*:WC vs AsC -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Saturday, January 19 2008 |
First game for the 2142 season and we went in not knowing exactly where we were at as a team. A couple of players came in last minute which wasn't ideal but we made the best of it. So we rolled out into the Suez Canal with some trepidation.
We started off as EU and we went for an agressiive strat. We didn't get all of our objectives straight away and a bloody fight ensued over the two bridge flags. The enemy made a few heart stopping runs on our main which were repulsed. With about 50 tickets still on the clock *AUS* went for the capout. The round went to *AUS* by 42-0 with the capout sucessful.
Next we were PAC and were a little surprised at our sucess in the first round. The same strat was used in reverse but the Canal favours EU and we failed to take 3 flags for the entire match. We lost our main a few times and nce actually lost all our flags mid way through but managed to take it back. But we were bleeding too many tickets and eventually went down 59-0 but avoided a cpaout.
Final result was 59-42 an (AsC) win by 17 tickets. Good effort guys for our first game as a team, we got some work to do but I expectt o start winnign matches soon. |
*AUS* vs +SiN+ -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Thursday, January 17 2008 |
Abandoned again! For a match against SiN on the night the ladder locked for the 16v16 ladder.
In defence we started as mec and pushed out with a now 4th generation strat of this map. We all knew it well but many key people were in new roles due to last minute team changes and so anything could have happened. Taking our main flags first we began our assault, SiN put in a top fight with some interesting tactics. They have a rather unique style of play with reviving a key part of their game which kept us on our feet and our boys left with only handfuls of ammo to deal with the wave of SiN that kept crashing at their flags. With a bit of luck we managed to tax a tank from the SiN home base, while we weren't able to keep it long it did require a number of SiN at boys to take it back and so during this time our boys had less opposition in the city and took advantage of it raising high the MEC banner on each flagpole. At this stage *AUS* had 150 or so tickets to the handful that SiN had left however something happened, and one, then two, three and then FOUR! We lost all but one of our flags – SiN fighting for Sparta really pushed us back and took a good 70 or so tickets off us before the round ended! It amazed us all.
As USMC, still rattled from that amazing comeback we rushed into the city hoping to secure the flags before SiN did more of the same.. luckily this round we were able to put the chopper and the armour to use and our boys in the streets did a fantastic job. Three flags then four, then three again then four.. the round went like this for the most part and so in finding a little Spartan spirit themselves, the *AUS* boys were able to secure the win, and our 5th spot on the ladder for a guaranteed finals placing. Only stressful games ahead of us now – Finals time... scary
GG SiN You smashed us last time it is fair to say and we really enjoyed a little revenge. Sorry that it cost you a finals placing though. Cya next season. |
*AUS* LiD vs Exile5 -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Wednesday, January 16 2008 |
Has anyone else here been hammered by Ex5? What a game, pheww.
AUS:LiD played well by keeping the pressure on our opponents bases, got them grey a few times, played as offensive as possible but what can you do against a top quality team like Ex5. A special mention to Smiley (Ex5 commander) who was dam impossible to outsmart. AUS:LiD had a few tricks up our sleeve and tried many times to catch Ex5 by suprise but Smiley was too good and anticipated and stomped on our pushes.
AUS:LiD gave this match everything we got but Ex5 were absolutley brilliant at redepoloying to meet every attck. They locked down flags well and made very good use of available 50 cals on our chopper. I still have to give my boys credit though for taking flags from Ex5 and greying their bases and generally putting up a hell of a fight.
Thanks Ex5 for a very tough and challenging match. We can only learn from it. 78-0 round 1, 69-0 round 2. 147-0 all up. See yuz in the finals (I hope) |
Battlefield Division News Update -- Posted by Lord_Barra on Monday, January 7 2008 |
Breakdown in communications often leads to disaster on the battlefield and that is what happened this week with our GA activities when challenges were submitted for the same time on the same night by 2 of our teams for lady luck to then roll snake eyes on us and see our challenges both get accepted for that same night and time: Monday 9:00 pm. It was D-Day for us. After Christmas we had a struggle getting the 26 numbers (at least) required to have 2 teams active on the one night but we did what we could and got the troops on-board and managed to put 10 pairs of boots on the ground in the 10v10 game, although many were fresh out of boot camp and yet to taste what top 5 level competition gaming was like.. and 16 guys in our 16v16 game made a go of it in the first 'do or die' game this season.
LiD, unfortunately, went down against the TOP quality team in TOG who we have had some very close scrims with in the past. It was capout both rounds on dalian plant meant some of our new guys got a good taste of just how hard a comp game can be although they held their spirits and went down trying in true *AUS* fashion. Each flag traded hands a number of times proving that it wasn't quite as bad as the score might suggest, however the chopper being controlled by TOG for most of the game really sealed the deal. Not much you can do when that thing has red name tags above it. 3 weeks left for LiD to hold their spot in the top 8, and remain in 4th for the time being, but in vulnerable status and sure to receive a challenge any day now.
HwT had a better night, though we had a lot of LiD players who are used to the map we played with only 4 flags, in 16v16 mode it has 6, two of which are not capable, + jets + arty + more armour + more choppers + unlocks... anyway we struggled a little but found our feet. Flyboys did well both rounds and despite the loss of a key squad member at the last second and then playing the first round with only 15, we managed to secure a comfortable win against the New Zealand clan of Evolution. Now in 7th spot, and 1 week out from finals, we look forward to challenging up again to play for a more secure foothold in the top 8 with our last game before the lock. |
